It’s a Boy!

hello world

Cast of Characters: meet Max Allen Tenney, our newborn son. He is a blessing that I will be forever thankful.

Max made a grand entrance into this world, that is for sure.  He was supposed to arrive mid August. After a full day of work and our normal evening walk with Penny in July, I started to get really uncomfortable. So uncomfortable, that Grayson started getting more antsy than I have ever seen him. After about an hour, I realized I was getting “uncomfortable” every 5-7 minutes… Gray had had enough, and loaded us up into the car with the carseat and half-packed hospital bag. I was already envisioning the doctors laughing at this paranoid mother-to-be thinking she was in labor. I mean, I hadn’t even completed all the newborn care classes, so I couldn’t possibly be in labor, right? (Ah, life unscripted). We checked into the emergency room, and after being told this baby was making an appearance tonight we headed to labor and delivery.

“We held our breaths the second he was born, waiting for him to take his first breath, and that following scream will forever be music to my ears.”

You all know the stories about labor, so I’ll spare the details. There were some scary moments, a birthing ball, doctors, and ice chips. We held our breaths the second he was born, waiting for him to take his first breath, and that following scream will forever be music to my ears. Gray and I waited to find out the sex of the baby, and when Max was born the doctors were so busy making sure he was okay since he was a preemie they forgot to tell us if he was a boy or girl. Gray ended up seeing him, and he was the one who told me “It’s a boy.” The doctors only had to look at him for a few quick minutes, and then handed him over to mom. And he is my perfect baby boy.

Max Allen Tenney was born at 2:17 a.m. on July 15th. Weighing in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces and 19 inches long, he was a tough little preemie. The nurses all brought in their friends when, after 24 hours, Max had gained weight. And he has never looked back – he weighed 10 pounds on his actual due date! Auntie Kara made it to the hospital first from San Francisco, and Max met all his Grammas and Grampas within just a couple days. Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends came to meet him, and well wishes poured in from near and far. This little boy is so loved.
